Off to the AJAX conference
Sunday, March 12, 2006 3:50:41 PM
I'll be gone until Tuesday at the AJAX conference in NYC. I'll be sure to blog about it when I get back, but in the meantime I'll be unable to respond to emails until Tuesday.
Update 3/17/2006: The conference wasn't bad, but that is only because I didn't have to pay. All-in-all, it was not what I expected. There was almost zero technical content. Basically, you had 10 sessions of "use my product" and "buy my product." The stuff that was shown was pretty amazing, though, but did not introduce AJAX in any meaningful way to a programmer. The only session that talked code was by Dave Crane, who wrote the book Ajax in Action. If the other sessions had been of that variety, the conference would have been worth the trip. I don't know if the speakers were paid or not, but it's been my experience that when you don't pay speakers, you get speakers with another agenda. Everybody at the conference got a free copy of AJAX in Action, so that session had absolutely no agenda beyond teaching/training.
